  13. STAMPB.EXE is a self-extracting file containing the compressed files required
  14. to use StampBase for Windows.

  16.                              DETAILED DESCRIPTION

  18. StampBase for Windows is stamp collection inventory system for Microsoft
  19. WindowsTM 3.0 or higher.  StampBase takes advantage of the Windows' Graphical
  20. User Interface (GUI) and its memory management capabilities.  StampBase is a
  21. Windows application.  The program will not work outside the Windows
  22. environment.

  24. Your stamp collection data can be stored in one or more files.  StampBase
  25. provides intuitive data entry and edit features.  StampBase uses the stamp
  26. catalog numbering system used by most popular catalogs and publications.  The
  27. program sorts records by country and catalog number.  StampBase tracks each
  28. stamp's category (type), issue year, description, grade, purchase date, cost
  29. and market value.  Personal comments about a stamp can also be stored with
  30. each record.

  32. The StampBase author is a 25 year veteran of stamp collecting.  StampBase is a
  33. stamp inventory system for the person who enjoys stamp collecting as a hobby
  34. and using a computer.  StampBase stores detailed and concise information about
  35. a stamp collection in an easily understood format.  Information about a stamp
  36. is quickly accessible on screen or in printed form.

  38. StampBase requires an 80286 or better PC with 1 MB RAM and a hard drive.  The
  39. program supports a mouse and keyboard.

  41. This is NOT free software.  This is NOT public domain software.  StampBase for
  42. Windows is a shareware software product.  You are expected to pay a small
  43. registration fee to the author if you find it useful.  A registration form is
  44. included in the program.  The author will send you the latest version of the
  45. program and a professionally printed User's Guide upon receiving the
  46. registration fee.  Registered users will be notified when the program is
  47. updated.

  67.                        INSTALLATION AND UNPACKING PROGRAM

  71. The StampBase for Windows package is stored in compressed files produced by
  72. the software program LHA written by Haruyasu Yoshizaki.  Copying STAMPB.EXE to
  73. a hard drive is recommended before unpacking.  Window's File Manager can be
  74. used to install the program.  Use the following procedure after starting File
  75. Manager:

  77.       1. Select Create Directory from the File menu.  Enter the directory name
  78.          and location (if different then current drive).
  79.  
  80.       2. Select source disk drive (A or B) containing STAMPB.EXE.  Select Copy
  81.          from the File menu.  Enter new directory name created in #1.

  83.       3. Select drive containing STAMPB.EXE.  Select new directory created in
  84.          #1.  Select STAMPB.EXE and press Enter.

  86. StampBase will now be unpacked in the new directory.  Refer to the User's
  87. Guide (SBGUIDE.DOC) for instructions on adding StampBase to the Windows
  88. application group.
